Affiliate marketing is full of surprises and waves. Smart affiliates are the ones who see the waves before they break! If you are reading this, congratulations – consider yourself lucky! Today’s wave has not broken yet!

You may not be an affiliate yet but always wanted to be one without paying thousands of dollars on courses. Or maybe you always dreamed about being an affiliate marketer and wondered day and night how on earth affiliates make tons of money from affiliate marketing. If so, then you must read my step-by-step guide on how to start affiliate marketing for beginners.

Ok, what is our wave today?

Unless you’re living under a rock, you likely experience tons of push notification messages every day! They have become a big part of our lives, reminding us to call family and friends, showing us today’s To-Do list and much more.

A bit of history for you…

The push notification app service was created by Apple in 2009 – back when Steve Jobs made Apple great again 🙂

After that, it was used in Safari, Chrome and a lot of other services on desktop and mobile devices to send push notifications. And obviously Android.

Why did I bold the word app above?

Because Blackberry invented the concept back in 2003. Remember Blackberry – the giant that was eaten by Apple first, then Google burned down whatever was left? Anyway, Blackberry invented the email push service, so that every time you received an email, the Blackberry app service pushed it to your mobile phone.

Ok, enough history.  What’s going on now?

Push Notifications vs. Push Notification Ads

Let’s start with push notifications first!

The idea was for the iPhone app to send notifications to its users based on a specific trigger. For example, a Facebook app notification is sent when someone likes your post, or Podcast notifications are sent when your favorite podcast shows have new episodes, and so on.

You know that little red circle on the app icon on your phone? That’s a push notification.

I’m sure you know what I’m talking about.

The same thing goes for browsers and desktops. Chrome is one of the big players in the push notification market. If you browse the internet using Chrome, you must have seen at least one website asking you to allow push notifications for them to send you news or something.

It looks something like this:

Think you’ve got the idea of push notifications now.

Push notification ads – also known as “Push traffic” and “Push ads”

Oh simple! Instead of the app sending you a notification about something you care about, they are sending you an advertisement.

Here are some examples of push notification ads for mobile apps:

And here, some examples for Chrome on desktops:

If you have been at any affiliate marketing events recently, I guarantee that everyone was talking about push notification ads and their possibilities; however, not many affiliates have gotten into them yet! It is your chance to ride the wave now.

There is no time to waste!

Why use push notification ads in 2019?

Honestly, it should be enough to say that most giant traffic sources, including Propeller ads and Zeropark, are now using push notification ads.

What does that tell you?

Yes! The big bucks are waiting to be made!

Here are a few reasons why:

  1. It is a new traffic source!
  2. It is not saturated by thousands of affiliates and companies yet!
  3. It is relatively cheap.
  4. It is a step up from Pops (which has been oversaturated for years now).
  5. It is permission-based: users give permission to websites/apps to send them notifications. This leads to higher engagement and conversions.
  6. Users do not have to be on the websites/apps to see the notifications.

What are the best traffic sources for push notification ads?

It is really hard to say, as there are currently many big players in the market. However, Luke recommends three push notification traffic sources.

The recommended traffic sources for push notification ads in 2019 are:

  1. PropellerAds – Use the promo code AFFLIFT-50 and get a $50 bonus when you deposit $200 on PropellerAds!
  2. RTX Platform – Use this link to learn how to sign up for RTX Platform and get a $100 credit when you spend $75 (new accounts only)
  3. MegaPush – Check out Luke’s MegaPush guide!

The best strategy to start push notification ads:

Here is a comment that you probably will not hear often from traffic sources:

“The push notification inventory burns very quickly.”

What does that mean? It means the traffic and engagement will indeed decrease in less time compared to other ads. It is not like Pops, where you can show your landers unlimited time aggressively.

Traffic sources have learned from their experiences with Pops. They want to keep the push notification market as healthy as possible for the sake of continuity.

I do not see the push notification market as a place to try and optimize much. You should have a pretty good idea about what works.

Therefore, I advise the following:

Run your best campaigns from Pops to push notification. I am confident you will see amazing results.

What to run on push notification ads now?

Pretty much everything that works well in Pops, and some that work well with Native. Here is the list::

  • Sweepstakes (Win an iPhone X, Galaxy S9 etc…)
  • Mobile Content offers (Anti-Viruses, Videos, Games etc…)
  • Installs
  • Gambling
  • Dating (no nudity)
  • Nutra (Weight Loss)
  • Desktop installs
  • E-Commerce

Creatives for push notification ads

If you use AdPlexity Native, you can simply find the popular creatives over there. You can also google it.

Here are a few examples:

Description: Check your iPhone X now!

Title: 3 viruses can be found!

Title: Are you excited to change your body?

Description: Learn how people in {city} lose weight fast!

Title: You can win a Galaxy S9 now!

Description: Check if you are eligible!

I think you’ve got the idea. Really  – the sky is the limit. Just try to be clean and not aggressive.

How much budget do you need to test?

This is also another hard question; however, I’ll tell you what I’m doing.

For offers that have payouts of less than $3, my testing budget is usually 20 times the payout amount.  For example, if the offer payout is $2, my testing budget will be $40.

For offers that have payouts of more than $3, my testing budget is only 10 times the payout amount. This is mainly for Nutra, e-commerce and COD offers.

However, you can increase the testing budget if you have a solid offer.

Conclusion

This type of traffic is really hot in 2019. I urge you to try it today before every affiliate on earth gets into it, like what happened to Pops and redirect.
